Intuit & Google Announce Major Local Search Marketing Partnership

Recently, Google and Intuit announced a partnership that may boost search engine marketing for local search and small business. Intuit, a company devoted to creating new ways to manage personal and small business finances, is the mastermind behind the best-selling software bundle for small business QuickBooks. The partnership between Google and Intuit will integrate Google's Adwords campaign directly into the work-flow of QuickBooks which presently claims 3.1 million active small business customers.

Intuit also announced its acquisition of SME marketing firm, StepUp, at approximately $60 million. StepUp has long been a search marketing leader for local service businesses, building an online presence and getting their listings to targeted traffic for greater profitability. Google has been working with channel partners to acquire small business advertisers for a long time now. Linking with Intuit will make Adwords more "SME friendly" because Google will have instant third party access to a large potential advertiser base.

Some of the integration features will include: AdWords Starter Edition integration, one-click listing on Google Maps, inventory/product feed to Google, and Google Desktop Integration. These features promise Google the most up-to-date information on small businesses that would otherwise be outdated on search engines. In turn, by making small businesses more visible on the Internet, Intuit/StepUp's reputation for achieving results through search engine marketing will be significantly boosted.

The 2007 version of QuickBooks will be released in late September of 2006. Both companies are viewing their partnership as a long-term option that is a recipe for significant mutual success.
